Data Fabrics is the TRU’s new art-based series exploring Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Governance through creative, relational, and hands-on approaches. The first offering in the series, Data Fabrics: Introduction to IDSov, invites Indigenous undergraduate and graduate students of any institution to learn foundational concepts around Indigenous data while engaging in virtual discussions and in-person sewing and quilting sessions. Participants will explore what Indigenous data is, why it matters, and how Indigenous governance frameworks shape data care and responsibility. No prior sewing or data experience is required. All materials, snacks, and lunch are provided, and participants will receive a gift certificate to a quilting shop upon completion. Registration is required. Spots are limited. Please share with students who may be interested.
